SonTeks Argonaut-SW velocity sensor available from Thermo Fisher Scientific

THERMO Fisher Scientific says SonTek’s Argonaut-SW (Shallow Water) acoustic current meter measures the velocity of water with proven Doppler technology and state-of-the-art surface mount electronics.

According to the company, the Argonaut-SW features a key technical innovation which separates it from other Doppler sensors, by which the velocity measurements are made all the way to the water’s surface without any of the contamination normally associated with side-lobe interference.

The Argonaut-SW velocity sensor is a bottom-mounted system intended for complex index velocity sites and for sites where purely theoretical discharge calculations are desired.

The company says when properly bottom-mounted, the three acoustic beams utilised by the Argonaut-SW measure level, velocity and flow.
