BESTECH Australia is distributing a laser line profile sensor from Micro-Epsilon which can acquire the profiles of a variety of target surfaces.
The scanCONTROL 2700/2710 can be used to measure profiles, angles, gaps and clearances. The supplier says it has a profile frequency of 100Hz and is highly accurate even when the profiles are fast moving.
The unit consists of a compact laser profile sensor with integrated electronics which uses the triangulation principle to acquire two-dimensional profiles. The company says the line optical system projects the laser onto the surface of the target object and measures its reflection. The controller then outputs both the distance information and the true position along the laser line.
According to the distributor, the system can also generate a three-dimensional representation of the surface by changing the distance between the object and the sensor.
The device is included with an integrated FireWire interface allowing it to be controlled from a PC.
